Prepare for your move by de-cluttering and getting rid of items you no longer use. Use this opportunity to sell or giveaway items you don't need anymore.
Once you know your moving dates, book the moving services that you will need (movers, trucks, supplies etc.). Making reservations early ensures that you have the resources you need when you need them.
Invest in quality moving boxes and materials. The last thing you want is for your items to be damaged due to poor packing materials.
Repurpose household items (such as suitcases, laundry baskets etc.) to store clothes and other items.
Labels boxes with a description of the contents and the new room they will be going to. This makes it easier for you and the movers to track where items will go in the new location.
Bonus Tip: Use colored labels to quickly sort boxes by rooms. For example:
Blue Labels = Kitchen
Green Labels = Office
Remember to schedule turning on your utilities, water, Internet, cable etc. Update your mailing address by completing a Change of Address form from the United State Postal Service. Do this at least two week ahead of time if possible.
